Tennessee City Stops Adding Fluoride To It's Water
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in January announced plans to lower the recommended level of fluoride in drinking water to reduce the possibility of children receiving too much fluoride. Spring Hill city aldermen sided more with concerns that sodium fluoride as a supplement is not equally tolerated among the people consuming it in drinking water, especially children. Alderman Keith Hudson said he agreed with Wurth that there are better ways to ways to protect teeth than ingesting fluoride.

China Major Market For Illegal Elephant Tusks
Anti-trafficking wildlife groups lauded Hong Kong authorities for seizing nearly 800 smuggled African elephant tusks. Seizures have escalated dramatically in the last seven years, driven by Chinese consumption, which is exacerbating Africa's elephant poaching crisis. In September last year Hong Kong customs seized 384 ivory tusks worth $1.4 million from two containers marked "dried anchovies" in a vessel traveling from Tanzania to a southern Chinese city.
Get Angry And See The "Bigger Picture"
Though anger may be unpleasant to feel, it is associated with a variety of attributes that may facilitate creativity. First, anger is an energizing feeling, important for the sustained attention needed to solve problems creatively. Second, anger leads to more flexible, unstructured thought processes.
Flavored Mouth Guard Battles Into Sports Safety
People who wear mouth guards say they don't fit well, cause dry mouth, and have a plastic taste. Many "tough talking" athletes balk at the thought of wearing them because it is not a great experience and they're experimenting with a friendlier "fruity" option. Right now, MoGo Sport is launching 4 introductory flavors: mint, lemon, fruit punch, and orange (many more to come). Each individual flavor is infused into the mouth guard and has been deemed completely safe and nontoxic by the FDA. Flavoring entices the user to want to wear the mouth guard.

Gum Disease May Aggravate Lung Disease
Now a new study has found an association between respiratory disease and periodontal disease. Respiratory infections, such as pneumonia and the exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), involve the aspiration of bacteria from the oropharynx into the lower respiratory tract. However, the link between the two conditions has not been established in a definitive manner and more research is required.
Parent Guilty Of Carrying Child On Bike
A cyclist has been fined for carrying his two year old son as a passenger on his bike, triggering fears that other parents could risk prosecution under road safety laws. Incensed by the penalty, he ripped the notice up and was also charged with littering.
Tribal Reflexology Helps Heal Facial Scar
Reflexology was used by the ancient Egyptians, Chinese and South American Tribes, and the theory is that applying pressure to certain points on the body can trigger a healing process in corresponding areas of the body, although there is no scientific explanation as to why this technique might work. As the name implies, facial reflexology concentrates on the face. It sounds wacky but it is believed that, because the face is close to the brain, massaging it in a particular fashion stimulates parts of the body via the central nervous system. This, it is claimed, can realign the body’s “meridians” – the 12 “pathways” that acupuncturists also put their faith in.
There’s no objective evidence and certainly no medical scientific information available about this technique but it does leave subjects with brilliant skin texture and tone. Mumbo-jumbo or not, it works for some to help heal scars.
U.S. Military Takes Yoga Ballistic
Military health experts say that traditional exercise models may make soldiers "fit" in the sense of more muscular, but often leave them too bulked up and vulnerable to injuries that yoga, which emphasizes flexibility, helps prevent. And yoga's focus on meditation and maintaining calm, they say, fits perfectly with the military's broad new emphasis on instilling "mental toughness", as well as physical strength, to ensure that soldiers can succeed on the modern technology-intensive battlefield pursuing elusive and nerve-wracking adversaries. To learn more about "combat yoga" and "warrior yoga" you can check your neighborhood yoga schools for classes.
