One of the greatest challenges facing dentistry is the lack of agreement among dentists regarding how to consistently manage dental disease after it has been diagnosed. Two providers will often not agree on the proper treatment protocol indicated because there are no consistent guidelines for managing different levels of disease. This can lead to very different treatment plans between dentists and confusion for the patient.
The reduction in rates of new disease at dental offices utilizing prevention protocols demonstrates that this approach is successful in arresting early disease and preventing new disease in at-risk children and adult patients.

Europe Bans X-Ray Body Scanners At Airports
On November 14, 2011 the European Commission banned X-ray body scanners that use "backscatter" technology from airports. The scanners, which are still in use in the United States, project X-ray beams onto your body using ionizing radiation to create a detailed reflection of your body that is displayed on a monitor viewed by a remotely located officer. Ionizing radiation causes DNA damage that can lead to cancer, and its effects are cumulative.

Hope For Fear Of The Dental Drill
Nervous patients who cannot stand the sound of the dentist's drill could be offered relief by a new device. Scientists at London universities have developed a gadget which cancels out the sound of the drill, leaving people free to enjoy their own music. Patients simply unplug their headphones, plug the device into their MP3 player or mobile phone and then plug their headphones into the device. People can still hear dentists and other staff speak to them - the tool only filters out the sounds of the high pitch of the drill.
